HOPE FOR YOUR COMMUNITY
Is your world suddenly smaller? Is God calling you to share His love? Many are now seeking to connect with God. Starting a Bible Study group with the people in your world can be your at-home mission outreach. With life so tenuous, is God calling you to share His love with those in your world? In this crisis many are seeking to learn about faith and to connect with God. Times of high stress is the right time to remind ourselves and our friends of the hope, love, and power of God as revealed in Scripture. Homes of Hope groups are for church members who want to share God’s love and study the Bible with friends in the community. “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world . . . , ” yes, your world, ” . . . and then the end will come.” Here are the steps to start your own stay-at home virtual mission outreach:
BUILD YOUR GROUP
Contact five or more church members to be part of your group. Contact one or more non-church members (Guests) to be part of your group.
SET A TIME
Homes of Hope groups meet for one hour–once a week, every other week, or once a month. Decide the day, time, and frequency that your group will meet.
BIBLE STUDY DISCUSSION GUIDE
Experienced group leaders do not always use a Bible Study guide, preferring to study verse-by-verse in the Bible. For new groups we have one set of Bible studies adapted for virtual groups developed by Sligo Church– A Firm Foundation, 15 discussion lessons ready for you to e-mail to participants in your group before each “meeting.” Email: Pastor Don McFarlane dmcfarlane@sligochurch.org or Beth Wear bethannwear262@gmail.com to start a new group.
PLATFORM
Choose your favorite way to communicate–by phone or by video chats. Options include face-to-face studies (Zoom – computer), phone only (FreeConferenceCall) and both phone and face-to-face platforms- all at the same meeting (Both Zoom and FreeConferenceCall). Your choice. You may schedule your meeting using Sligo Church’s Zoom account.
