Happy Monday Family,
If you were among the many who joined us this past Sabbath for our Sligo worship, then you heard me share some words that I read on a church sign in my community which aid, “The church has left the building.” What makes this a powerful statement in my book is that not only is it true, which in and of itself is enough, but that it is an extremely timely one. I say timely because it has been in this midst of this pandemic that the church has been forced to come to the grips with this reality; a reality by the way, which has been the case since the early church was birthed into existence. So the real question at hand is what will do with this revelation. My prayer is that we will begin to act as the church as never before with our families, our neighbors and yes even those with whom we share strong differences of opinions.
As we continue to face the challenges that come with confronting this unseen enemy head on, I want us to remember to keep in prayer those in our own Sligo community who place themselves on the frontlines each and everyday in order that they may be a source of strength and comfort to those who at a time like this are desperately in need of both. If you know of someone in our congregation who serves on the frontline, or if you happen to be one yourself, please let us know so that we as a body may offer encouragement to them and their families.
Please take a moment and review the opportunities of how we can continue to do life together:
Holy Communion – On Sabbath, May 30, the Sligo family will be able to take part in one of the most meaningful aspects of our Sligo experience, and that is the Holy Communion. Despite the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the gathering of the members of our family to be put on hold, except virtually, we will through the use of technology, come together to partake of this holy meal and yes, join our voices as we sing, “When We All Get to Heaven.” You don’t want to miss this! Stay tuned for more about this special service.
Homes of Hope – Dr. Derek Morris, President of Hope Channel International will discuss Radical Protection–giving us the tools to put on the protective armor of God. This is a Zoom meeting provided by Sligo Church, Tuesdays, June 2-16, 7:00 p.m. Click on the link below to register on EventBrite to attend and get more information. <Register>
